Marine Façade (St. Petersburg) hosts M/V Crown Princess for the first time in its history (photo)
On July 19, 2013, JSC Passenger Port of St. Petersburg "Marine Façade" has accepted the cruise ship Crown Princess of Princess Cruises, for the first time in its history. According to the company’s press center, the 19-deck vessels brought 3,100 tourists.
Besides Saint-Petersburg, the 14-day cruise which started in Southampton includes the calls on the ports of Oslo, Goteborg, Tallinn, Helsinki, Stockholm, Copenhagen and Zeebrugge.
The vessel’s administration together with the port representatives held a traditional ceremony of memorial sign exchange dedicated to the vessel’s first call on port Saint-Petersburg.
Besides, a discussion held onboard the ship was dedicated to installation of a technological door scheduled for the next call of Crown Princess on St. Petersburg (August 25). The meeting was attended by Yury Orlov, Harbour Master of Passenger Port St. Petersburg, representatives of Nordweg (to implement the works), Lloyd’s Register (to supervise the operations), Fincantieri (the builder) and the ship's engineer.
Saint-Petersburg was chosen by the ship owners for implementation of required operations as it is the only port on the cruise route where the ship spends two days allowing proper execution of complicated works, the statement says.
The ship was built in 2006 at Fincantieri shipyard (Monfalcone, Italy). Crown Princess is a registered trade mark.
JSC Passenger Port of St. Petersburg "Marine Façade" is in the ownership of the city of St. Petersburg and is the largest passenger seaport in Russia. Construction of Marine Façade began in 2006. The port can accommodate cruise and ferry ships of up to 330 m long and with a draft of up to 8.8 m. The length and depth of new access channels - 10 km and 11 m, accordingly. The port operates seven piers. The quay wall length – 2,171.06 m.
