Passenger ship Palmira-2 built for operation in St. Petersburg passed sea trials (photo report)
Peterhof Express LLC (Astramarine Group, Saint-Petersburg) has successfully held sea trials of the first passenger ship in the series being built by Ladoga Transport Works LLC (Shlisselburg, Leningrad region), the Group CEO Andrey Kuznetsov told IAA PortNews.
As IAA PortNews informed earlier, the contract for the construction of 3 vessels to be deployed in Saint-Petersburg was signed by Astramarine Group in late 2011.
The project for new ships was developed by Spetsproyect CJSC to the class of Russian Maritime Register of Shipping. Andrey Kuznetsov, the new ship will be able to replace Fontanka-class pleasure boats which are popular in Saint-Petersburg today. The new vessel will be fully in line with the requirements on safe transportation of passengers along Petersburg’s canals and rivers including the Neva. The new comfortable passenger boat able to accommodate about 100 persons has one lounge and a sliding transparent roof. The vessel’s length is – 21.5 m, breadth – 5.6 m, draught – 0.7 m.
“This navigation will see all the three boats to start operation at the City Tour route within the framework of a pilot project supported by St. Petersburg Government,” Andrey Kuznetsov said.
