Throughput of Chinese ports up 9.9% to 5.2 bln tonnes in HI’13
In January-June 2013, the ports of China increased their throughput by 9.9%, year-on-year, to 5.2 bln tonnes, says the Ministry of Transport of the Government of the People's Republic of China. In the accounting period seaports of China handled 3.6 bln tonnes (+9.9%, year-on-year), river ports – 1.61 bln tonnes (+9.7%, year-on-year).
Container throughput gained 8.3% to 914.6 mln TEUs including 814.9 mln TEUs in seaports (+7.9%) and 99.7 mln TEUs (+1.2%).
In 2012, throughput of Chinese ports climbed by 6.8% to 9.74 bln tonnes.
