Throughput of Gdansk port (Poland) up 1.3 times to 13.99 mln t in HI’13
In January-June, 2013, the Port of Gdansk (Poland) handled 13,990,326 tonnes of cargo (up 1.3 times, year-on-year), the stevedoring company says.
In the accounting period, transshipment of grain climbed by 31.3% to 538,829 tonnes, general cargo and timber – up by 27.3% to 5,310,480 tonnes, other cargoes (aggregates, sulphur, ore) was down 52.4% to 1,075,147 tonnes, coal – up 4.1 times to 2,676,691 tonnes, liquid fuel – up 45.8% to 4,389,179 tonnes.
The port of Gdansk is a major international transportation hub situated in the central part of the southern Baltic coast. Besides handling bulk cargoes (oil, coal, metal ores) the port provides a number of line services linking it with the ports of the Baltic Sea and Western Europe (primarily ferry, construction and ro-ro lines).
