Solstad Green Operations campaign winner (Q2 – 2013). Normand Pacific still holds top position
Normand Pacific is still on top, with a record high number of 538 Green Operations in Q2 - 2013 the crew have shown its commitment to the environment same time shown that systematic SGO approach can be beneficial, said in the company's press release.
Normand Pacific reached a record high number of SGO this quarter (538 SGO). Normand Drott pushed Nor Chief down and took second place with 268 SGO done. Nor Chief has been steady for a long time now, and came in on 3rd place in Q2 – 2013. Below the top 3 SGO vessels we have many good candidates for t-shirts next quarter, Normand Oceanic, Normand Trym, Normand Corona, Normand Progress and Nor Captain can all make it. We have also seen vessels suddenly getting the right conditions for Green Operations and being able to steal one of the top positions, so in theory anything can happen.
However, there might be operational limitations or time restraints on board some of our vessels, and barge that can be a challenge trying to implement a systematic approach to SGO. I know other vessels also have a systematic way of doing SGO reports, awareness is the key.
One of the most pressing and urgent problems we face today is Climate Change, no doubt about that, still discussions ongoing why this is happening and what is causing this relatively sudden change in our climate, this will go on for a long time. Meanwhile SGO can be used on board all our vessels and barge to minimize the impact our operations has to the environment, disregard the outcome from these discussions, it make sense to save fuel.
This time I will lift NorCe Endeavour and Nor Supporter. We now have these locations on the SGO list again, this is all down to teamwork and a dedicated crew. Solstad Green Operations campaign has set a key performance indicator (KPI) to 25 SGO per location per month. If we look into this number, the reduction is equal to at least 35 tons of Co2 being emitted into the atmosphere every month, and if all locations, which we now have, are contributing, we can really make a difference.
To end this summary a short SGO class competition summary will follow. Normand Trym still holding the top position in the PSV class, Normand Pacific, no surprise, has the lead in OCV class and for our anchor handling vessels Normand Drott has taken over the lead but almost side by side with Nor Chief. Year total so far for AHTS in 2013 Nor Chief has a good grip on the top position, but Drott is lurking in the background.
The fuel consumption in Q2 - 2013 was 46.022m3, compared to Q1 – 2013 43.625m3, looking at the same period last year Q2 – 2012 Solstad used 49.822m3.
