Throughput of Russian seaports up 4.7% to 284.1 mln t in HI’13
In January-June, Russian seaports handled 284.1 mln t of cargo (+4.7%, year-on-year), Association of Commercial Sea Ports states.
In the reported period, transshipment of dry cargo totaled 119.1 mln t (-2.3%) including 48.6 mln t of coal (+14.9%), 21.7 mln t of containerized cargo (+3.0%), 6.1 mln t of mineral fertilizers (+17.0%). Transshipment of ferrous metal fell to 11.6 mln t (-17.6%), ore – to 3.6 mln t (-8.5%), timber cargo – to 2.3 mln t (-29.4%). Grain transshipment has dropped considerably – by 72.5%.
Transshipment of liquid bulk cargo made 165.0 mln t (+10.3%) including 104.0 mln t of crude oil (+9.3%).
Transshipment of export cargo reached 222.4 mln t (+3.5%, year-on-year), import cargo – 23.5 mln t (+9.9%), transit cargo – 22.6 mln t (+0.3%), coastal trade cargo – 15.6 mln t (+22.9%).
Operators of the Arctic Basin terminals handled 22.9 mln t of cargo (+33.2%, year-on-year) including 11.7 mln t of dry cargo (+0.6%) and 11.2 mln t of liquid bulk cargo (up two-fold).
The growth of liquid bulk cargo transshipment should be attributed to the increased transshipment of crude via the Belokamenka terminal. Total throughput of Murmansk port made 15.2 mln t (+38.9%), Varandey - 2.5 mln t (up 2.4 times), Vitino – 2.1 mln t (+9.4%), Arkhangelsk 2.3 mln t (the same as in HI’12).
The ports of the Baltic Basin handled 105.5 mln t of cargo (+ 7.7%) including 39.7 mln t of dry cargo (+8.0%), 65.8 mln t of liquid bulk cargo (+7.4%). Throughput of Ust-Luga port hit 29.0 mln t (up 1.5 times), Vysotsk – 8.1 mln t (+31.0%), Kaliningrad - 7.2 mln t (+13.0%). At the same time, throughput of Primorsk fell by 13.0% to 33.3 mln t, throughput of Big Port St. Petersburg was down 1.7% to 27.4 mln t.
Throughput of Azov - Black Sea Basin port reached 81.1 mln t (-4.7%, year-on-year) including 26.1 mln t of dry cargo (-20.1%, mainly with a decreased transshipment of grain) and 55.0 mln t of liquid bulk cargo (+4.8%). The port of Novorossiysk handled 55.8 mln t of cargo (-6.6%), Tuapse - 7.8 mln t (-15.5%), Rostov - 4.3 mln t (-6.3%), Kavkaz - 3.2 mln t (-8.7%). The following ports improved their results: Taman – to 3.6 mln t, Sochi - to 1.2 mln t (+20.9%) .
In the Caspian Basin, seaports handled 4.0 mln t of cargo (-22.6%, year-on-year) including 1.4 mln t of dry cargo (-42.7%) and 2.6 mln t of liquid bulk cargo (-4.3%). Throughput of port Makhachkala lost 10.0%, Astrakhan - 35.0% with Olya throughput down 2.8 times.
The ports of the Far East Basin handled 70.5 mln t of cargo (+7.0%) including 40.2 mln t of dry cargo (+4.8%) and 30.3 mln t of liquid bulk cargo (+10.1%). The increase was registered at the ports of Vostochny - 17.3% to 24.2 mln t, Vanino - 20.8% to 12.2 mln t, Nakhodka - 7.6% to 9.0 mln t, Vladivostok - 3.6% to 6.9 mln t. Throughput of Prigorodnoye fell by 3.7% to 8.2 mln t, De-Castri – by 11.0% to 3.3 mln t, Posiet – by 10.9% to 2.6 mln t.
Association of Sea Commercial Ports (ASOP) set up in 1987 unites over 50 organizations and enterprises of Russia’s maritime transport.
