Throughput of Klaipėda Port and Būtingės terminal up 2.3% to 21.6 mln t in HI’13
The total throughput of Klaipėda Port and in Būtingės terminal in June of 2013 totalled 3,3 mln. tn, i.e. less by -4,7 % or by 163,5 thou. tn if to compare with the corresponding period of 2012, Port of Klaipeda informs. The cargo handling turnover in Klaipėda Port in June of 2013 reached 2,63 mln. tn, (the year-on-year change was -9,2% or -265,3 thou. tn), meanwhile 701,0 thou. tn of cargo were handled at Butingės terminal (+17,0 % or +101,8 thou. tn yoy). Cargo handling turnover in Klaipėda Port increased by +2,3 pct. from the beginning of the year (within the period of six months of the current year).

- natural and chemical fertilizers (bulk) ( 618,0 thou. tn were handled, -19,7 % or -151,9 thou. tn yoy);
- oil products (473,9 thou. tn were handled, -20,7 % or -123,9 thou. tn yoy);
- agriculture products (142,6 thou. tn were handled, +40,6 % or +41,2 thou. tn yoy) were the categories of cargo that made the greatest impact on cargo handling turnover in June of the current year.
Klaipeda State Seaport is the northernmost ice–free port on the Eastern coast of the Baltic Sea. It is the most important and biggest Lithuanian transport hub, connecting sea, land and railway routes from East to West. The port’s throughput (including Butinge terminal) made 43.761 mln t in 2012.
