Throughput of Helsinki port down 6% to 4.8 mln t in HI’13
In the first half of 2013, the Port of Helsinki handled 4.8 mln t of cargo (-6%, year-on-year), the port says. The traffic consists of equal shares of import and export with import having declined by 10%, export – by 1%.
In June, the port’s throughput made 800,000 tonnes (-6%, year-on-year). Import fell by 9%, export - by 4% to 400,000 tonnes each.
In June, the port serviced 1.85 million passengers (+1.5%). In the half-year period, passenger traffic reached 5 million persons (the same as in HI’12).
The Port of Helsinki is one of the largest ports in Finland, the largest passenger port and the third largest in the Baltic Sea. The port accounts for 77% of passenger traffic in Finland.
