Gazpromneft Marine Bunker, Gazprom Neft subsidiary engaged in bunker sales, is the first bunker operator in the Black Sea region to obtain a permit for operation at commercial seaport of Sochi. In June the company fuelled the passenger liner AIDAaura operated by one of the largest cruise companies in the world - Carnival Cruise Lines, the company’s release says.
Gazpromneft Marine Bunker is one of the leaders in the Black Sea region of Russia. It operates in all large ports including Novorossiysk, Tuapse, Kavkaz and Taman. In the 5-month period of 2013, the company sold over 130,000 tonnes of bunker fuel in this market, almost twice as much as in the same period of 2012.
“Cargo and passenger shipping at Sochi port is boosting today. With a possibility to be fuelled right at the port of destination ship owners have an extra incentive for the expansion of their business and tourism activities in the region, — says Gazpromneft Marine Bunker CEO Andrey Vasiliev. — Entering a new market is one of the company’s strategic tasks, the fulfillment of which will let us enhance interaction with the largest global shipping companies”.
Gazpromneft Marine Bunker LLC is a subsidiary of Gazprom Neft founded in 2007 for round-the-year supply of bunker fuels and marine oils for sea and river transport. The company holds leading position in Russia's bunker market with its share of 18.6% and a presence at all major ports of the Russian Federation: 15 sea ports and 9 river ports in total. Some 85% of the company’s customers are foreign ship owners. In 2012, total bunker sales of Gazpromneft Marine Bunker reached 2.9 million tonnes. The amount of "on board" bunkering grew by 40% to 1.8 million tonnes.
