Novoship denied involvement of NS Captain in gasoil spill in port Saint-Petersburg
Novorossiysk Shipping Company (Novoship OJSC) has denied information of the State Marine Rescue Coordination Center (SMRCC) earlier published by IAA PortNews on June 26. According to that information, on June 25, 2013, gasoil from the storage tanker NS Captain owned by Novoship overflew to the deck of tanker Volgoneft-128 (Shipping company Volga LLC) in port Saint-Petersburg.
As IAA PortNews learnt from Novoship, the incident took place in the course of preparatory works undertaken at Volgoneft-128 before unloading of vacuum gasoil to NS Captain. When getting ready to cargo handling operations at Volgoneft-128, gasoil flew over the hatch neck of starboard tank No 6 to the deck with part of cargo entering the waters of the Gulf of Finland.
Seaport Administration of Big Port St. Petersburg was immediately informed about the incident, the inspection was held. The copy of the inspection certificate is at the disposal of Novoship. It was issued by the senior state inspector of the port SNiEB in respect to cargo spillover at the tanker Volgoneft-128 which occurred on June 25. NS Captain was not mentioned in the document as the incident participant.
Novoship also states that on June 27, Peotr Parinov, Harbour Master of Seaport Administration of Big Port St. Petersburg sent to the company an official letter acknowledging Volgoneft-128 to be responsible for the spill.
So, both documents confirm the Novoship statement, while the information provided by SMRCC and published by IAA PortNews on June 26 is wrong.
