Throughput of port Klaipeda (Lithuania) to climb 5% to 38 mln t in 2013 – expert
In 2013, throughput of port Klaipeda will climb to 36-38 mln t, experts say. This forecast was provided to IAA PortNews journalist by Aloyzas Kuzmarskis, President of the Association of Lithuanian stevedoring companies.
“Lithuania’s industrial growth alone will ensure the growth of over 3%,” he explained.
When speaking about the prospects of 2015 he noted that the throughput is expected to grow by up to 10%.
Klaipeda State Seaport is the northernmost ice–free port on the Eastern coast of the Baltic Sea. It is the most important and biggest Lithuanian transport hub, connecting sea, land and railway routes from East to West. The port’s throughput (including Butinge terminal) made 43.761 mln t in 2012.
