Port Ust-Luga conducts anti-drug trafficking drills (photo release)
Anti-drug trafficking exercises were conducted today in the Port of Ust-Luga on the territory of the car ferry terminal of Ust-Luga Department of the North-West Basin Branch, Russia’s state port manager ROSMORPORT said.
The drills scenario said that a group of drug smugglers carrying drugs by sea and detected by police patrol tried to escape on a boat from law enforcement agents.
A joint team of law enforcement agencies participated in the anti-drug trafficking exercises, including customs and police special fast response units of the North-West Customs Directorate, personnel of the border crossing post of Ust-Luga port and the water transport police of the Russian Internal Affairs’ St. Petersburg department, with the assistance of the security personnel of the North-West Basin Branch.
The exercises were intended for perfection of interaction between air and sea transport crews, special units, different law enforcement agents in order to improve the skills of personnel while cracking down on criminal gangs to ensure security at facilities in the seaport of Ust-Luga.
