First 14,000-tonne liner calls on Marine Façade in St. Petersburg (photo)
On June 19, Passenger Port of St. Petersburg "Marine Façade" for the first time in its history accepted the 14,000-tonne cruise ship Adventure of the Seas of Royal Caribbean Intl., press center of Marine Façade says.
As of today, it is the largest ship to call on St. Petersburg. The ceremony of traditional exchange with vessel’s and port’s memorial signs was held on board the ship on the occasion of the first call.
Ole-Johan Gronhaug, Captain of the ship, noted the new port’s safe navigation and excellent infrastructure fully complying with the requirements on handling liners of this size.
In navigation 2013, vessels of Royal Caribbean Intl. will make 32 calls on the Marine Façade. They will deliver to Saint-Petersburg over 80,000 tourists.
JSC Passenger Port of St. Petersburg "Marine Façade" is in the ownership of the city of St. Petersburg and is the largest passenger seaport in Russia. Construction of Marine Façade began in 2006. The port can accommodate cruise and ferry ships of up to 311 m long and with a draft of up to 9 m. The length and depth of new access channels - 10 km and 11 m, accordingly. The port operates seven piers. The quay wall length – 2,171.06 m.
