- We are very pleased with the agreements we have reached with Havyard and BG Group, says Jens Meinhard Rasmussen, CEO of Skansi Offshore. – This is completely in line with our strategy of building a fleet of modern and environmentally friendly vessels with low exposure to the spot market, says Rasmussen in a comment.
This contract becomes the fifth newbuild that Skansi Offshore has ordered of a Havyard designTM since 2007. The four previous vessels have already been delivered, three of these from Havyard Group`s own shipyard.
- We are fortunate to be part of this development stage of this ambitious shipping company from the Faroe Islands, says CEO Geir Johan Bakke of Havyard Group. – With their background in fishing, Skansi Offshore has quickly developed into a competitive contractor of supply services to the offshore industry. From being somewhat of a small intruder they have through delivering good quality services grown to become a recognized contractor competing on par with the bigger players in this market. We have learnt a lot during this process and we also believe we have contributed towards Skansi`s success by supplying good quality vessels. We think this is a company that will continue its positive development and we will do our best to be able to work with them again, Bakke concludes.
Havyard Group started developing own ship designs in 2005. Since then the company has developed more than 20 different designs and sold more than 60 designs to shipowners and shipyards in Norway and abroad. These are AHTSs, PSVs, subsea vessels, standby vessels, fishing boats and live fish carriers. The biggest success is within the PSV segment with more than 20 designs sold for construction world-wide. Havyard 833 is the largest of Havyard`s PSV designs. It has great cargo capacity and is highly flexible in terms of transporting the various types of cargo that charterers demand. The Havyard 833 design is developed to satisfy the strictest of environmental demands and to operate safely and economically. This contract is the third supply vessel of a Hayard 833 design that Havyard Group delivers.
