NYK announces introduction of Bengal Arabian Service (BAS)
NYK announces a new West Asia service, the Bengal Arabian Service (BAS), together with partners Evergreen Marine Corp. (Taiwan), and Simatech Shipping Pte. Ltd. (Singapore), said in the company's press release.
This weekly service is unique in that it is the only service in the market directly connecting Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, India, and Pakistan. This will also be the first time for NYK to deploy a containership to the port of Chittagong, and we will also be a part of the diversification of the service by deploying a ship for its feeder service.The BAS service will commence from June 27 when the first voyage vessel arrives at Chittagong.
Service Summary: weekly service with 4 x 1,700 TEU (nominal) vessels. One of these vessels will be provided by NYK.
Port Rotation: Chittagong (Bangladesh) – Colombo (Sri Lanka) – Karachi (Pakistan) – Mundra (India) – Colombo – Chittagong
Voyage Commencement: Arriving at Chittagong on June 27, 2013.
