Harvey Gulf set to build marine LNG fueling site
Harvey Gulf International Marine announced yesterday it will spend $400 million to build and operate the first offshore liquefied natural gas fueling facility site in the United States, the New Orleans City Business reports.
The facility at Port Fouchon will consist of two sites, each with 270,000 gallons of LNG storage capacity and the ability to transfer 500 gallons of LNG per minute. Completion of the first site is expected in February, with the second following shortly thereafter.
CEO Shane Guidry said in a statement that Harvey Gulf has secured CH-IV International of Houston as the engineering, procurement and construction contractor for the project.
In related news, Harvey Gulf announced recently it has exercised an option to build a sixth offshore support vessel at Gulf Coast Shipyard Group in Gulfport, Miss. The project is part of a $540 million fleet expansion initiative.
