Port of Hamburg launches PORTLog online service
In future supply and demand in the Port of Hamburg should be matched even more efficiently. The new online shop-system PORTlog is online, as from June 5th, the Port of Hamburg Authority said in a press release. Both German and international customers should immediately be able to locate the right service provider in the warehousing, logistics or transport fields for their imports and exports in Hamburg and the metropolitan region rapidly and precisely. More than 1000 warehousing and logistics companies operate in the Hamburg region alone.
By selecting a desired service, customers will receive a results listing of qualified suppliers filtered down to the last detail. Otherwise than in a Yellow Pages or similar directory, selected criteria can be transmitted direct to the provider as an enquiry about what’s on offer. With PORTlog, Port of Hamburg Marketing and Hamburg Port Authority aim to simplify marketing of logistics services in the Port of Hamburg.
The starting signal for the new portal was given at transport logistic 2013 in Munich by Senator Frank Horch, Hamburg’s Minister of Economics, Transport and Innovation, Jens Meier, CEO of Hamburg Port Authority, and Axel Mattern, Executive Board Member of Port of Hamburg Marketing.
PORTlog is a marketing platform for logistics companies, manufacturers and Importers/exporters along the transport chain, bringing together potential customers and providers of warehousing, transport and other logistics services. So the German or international port customer looking for a warehousing company in Hamburg specifically for his own business, for example, calls up PORTlog, choosing in his own language the services required in the user-friendly input mask. After completion of the input process, PORTlog uses a matching procedure to select companies from the existing pool that match the enquiry, listing these on screen. As the next step, the enquirer can despatch a standardized enquiry to one of the suggested service providers. This fast and independent search procedure is free of charge for enquirers.
