Throughput of Sea Commercial Port of Illichivsk (Ukraine) down 1.4% to 5.85 mln t Jan-May’13
In January-May 2013, Sea Commercial Port of Illichivsk handled 5,850,000 tonnes of cargo (-1.4%, year-on-year), the company’s press center informs.
In the 5-month period the port handled 2,175,000 tonnes of general cargo, 619,000 tonnes of liquid bulk cargo and 3,056,000 tonnes of dry bulk cargo.
According to the release, the major fall was registered in transshipment of cast iron (-84%, year-on-year), vegetable oil (-86%), gas (-59%) and coal (-56%).
At the same, time the growth was demonstrated in the sector of containerized cargo (+10%), grain cargo (+30%) and ro-ro cargo (+28%).
In the 5-month period, the port accepted 729 vessels and 58,947 wagons.
SE Sea Commercial Port of Illichivsk is a multipurpose international port, one of the largest ports in the Black Sea. The company operates specialized terminals and complexes capable of handling a wide range of cargoes – liquid bulk cargo, dry bulk cargo, general cargo. The port’s 29 berths can accommodate vessels of up to 100,000 tonnes in deadweight. Designed annual capacity of SCPI exceeds 30 mln tonnes.
The port’s container capacity is 1.15 mln TEUs. From 2007 the port can simultaneously handle 3 ocean-going 300-m long container carriers of over 5,000 TEUs in capacity.
