Throughput of Helsinki port down 5% to 4 mln t Jan-May’13
In January-May 2013, the port of Helsinki handled 4 mln t of cargo (-5%, year-on-year) with import and export accounting for 2 mln t each (-9% and -1% respectively).
In May, the port’s throughput fell 5% to 850,000 tones. Import lost 9% making 411,000 tonnes, export - 1%, to 440,000 tonnes.
In May the port serviced 960,000 passengers (+2%), in the 5-month period 3,900,000 passengers (the same as in January-May 2012).
The Port of Helsinki is one of the largest ports in Finland, the largest passenger port and the third largest in the Baltic Sea. The port accounts for 77% of passenger traffic in Finland.
