Throughput of Murmansk Commercial Seaport up 9.7% to 6.9 mln t Jan-May’13
In January-May 2013, Murmansk Commercial Seaport OJSC handled 6,952,440 tonnes of cargo (+9.7%, year-on-year) including 6,530,380 tonnes of export cargo, 211,900 tonnes of import cargo, 210,160 tonnes of coastal trade cargo, the company says.
In May, the port transshipped 1,593,360 tonnes of cargo (+24.8%, or 316,400 tonnes, year-on-year) including 1,495,630 tonnes of export cargo, 49,520 tonnes of import cargo and 48,210 tonnes of coastal trade cargo. Coal shipment totaled 1,226,650.
All in all, the port handled 39 vessels and 22,795 wagons including 18 vessels and 16,087 wagons with coal.
Murmansk Commercial Seaport OJSC was established in 1994 on base of the public enterprise and nowadays it is one of Russia’s busiest ports. The port has 17 berths with total length of some 3,000 meters. The length and depth enables the port to handle vessels of up to 15.5 meters in draught and over 265 meters in length. In 2012, the company handled 15.69 mln t of cargo.
