OOCL accredited again for environmental data integrity
OOCL announces that we have once again attained our certification on the accuracy and transparency of our environmental data disclosure for 2012 following our success in 2011, said in the company's press release.
This is the second year that OOCL has obtained certification of this kind which reflects our continued commitment to a high standard of our data integrity and information management.
OOCL was accredited the certification for 2012 after going through an audit conducted by the Det Norske Veritas (DNV), a Norway based Classification society using the internationally recognized and accepted Clean Cargo Working Group (CCWG) verification standard to check for the carbon dioxide and sulphur oxides emissions of OOCL vessels.
Commenting on the overall assessment of the audit conducted, DNV concluded that OOCL has exemplified how environmentally conscious companies can accurately keep track of their business effects on the environment.
DNV verified that OOCL has kept a clear and correct collection of documentation and records which allow the stored data to be easily and efficiently retrieved for assessment. As a result of our best practice, not a single discrepancy was identified between the emission data collected in the samples from the randomly selected OOCL vessels by DNV and the data submitted by OOCL towards CCWG measurement and evaluation for the year 2012.
On receiving the environmental data integrity Verification Certificate presented by Mr. Patrick Fong, District Manager of Hong Kong Branch of DNV, Mr. S.C. James Tai, OOCL General Manager of Fleet Management cum Technical Director said, “We are very delighted and proud to receive our certification that verifies the high level of accuracy, transparency and credibility of our environmental data from our environmental reporting system. As a responsible corporate citizen, we believe this annual verification reinforces and improves our environmental performance and at the same time helps our customers meet their environmental objectives by sharing with them accurate and reliable data to track and benchmark their carbon footprint.”
With this certification, customers can also leverage our OOCL Carbon Calculator in measuring their CO2 emission levels with confidence and improve the environmental performance in their supply chains.
