Throughput of Ventspils port (Latvia) down 3.3% to 14.3 mln t Jan-May’13
In January-May 2013, Freeport of Ventspils handled 14.3 mln t of cargo (-3.3%, year-on-year), the Port Authority informs. In May, Ventspils handled 2.3 mln t of cargo.
Four of the port’s 10 terminals increased their throughput for the first time in the 5-month period: Ventbunkers – 53%, Ventspils Commercial Port - 5%, Ventamonjaks serviss - 27%, Ventplac – 0.4%. Throughput of Ventspils Nafta termināls dropped 14%, Kālija parks – 32% Baltic Coal Terminal – 4%, Ventspils Grain Terminal – 34%, Ventall Termināls – 11%, Noord Natie Ventspils Terminals – 3%.
Ventspils port is located near Venta river. There are terminals for loading and unloading of crude and oil products, liquid chemicals and fertilizers, metal and coal, timber and fish, containers and Ro-Ro trailers. In 2012 the port’s throughput increased by 7% to 30.4 mln tonnes.
