Passenger traffic on Russian Railways' network increases 4.8% y-on-y in May 2013
According to the latest figures, 96.8m passengers travelled on the infrastructure owned by Russian Railways in May 2013, 4.8% more than in May 2012, the Company's release says. Suburban commuter numbers amounted to 87.5m, an increase of 5% year-on-year, while long-distance passengers rose 2.4% to 9.3m.
Passenger turnover in May 2013 amounted to 11.3bn passenger-km, 2.1% less than during May 2012.
In January-May 2013, total passenger numbers amounted to 422.9m, up 5.4% compared to January-May 2012, with long-distance passengers down 1.5% to 40.6m, while suburban commuters rose to 382.2m, an increase of 6.2%.
Passenger turnover on the network of Russian Railways since the beginning of 2013 fell 0.4% to 48bn passenger-km compared to last year.
