Newly amended State Border Law simplifies border crossing procedure for Russian vessels
The Council of the Federation has introduced amendments into the Federal Law “On introduction of amendments into Article 9 of RF Law “About State Border of the Russian Federation” and certain legislative acts of the Russian Federation”, press center of the Federation Council says.
According to Nikita Ivanov, Deputy Chairman of the Council of the Federation Committee on Defense and Security, the Law is to simplify the border crossing procedure for Russian vessels sailing between Russian ports and sea terminals as well as for Russian vessels leaving Russian ports for internal sea waters or territorial waters of the Russian Federation for commercial purposes excluding fishing related activities, with consequent arrival in Russian ports.
According to the Law, a vessel can repeatedly cross the state border without border/customs/other control procedures provided that a vessel is equipped with the required location control facilities and provides border authorities with the notice of intention to cross the state border and vessel location data.
