Murmansk region asks Rosneft to consider LNG shipping for region’s needs
The Murmansk region government has addressed Rosneft OJSC with a proposal to consider a possibility to arrange maritime transportation of liquefied natural gas for the region’s gasification, IAA PortNews learnt from Murmansk region’s top source.
A corresponding letter was sent by the Murmansk region to the oil company. The possibility of such a cooperation was discussed at the bilateral talks between Murmansk region Governor Marina Kovtun Rosneft head Igor Sechin.
AS of today, Murmansk region is not connected with the gas trunk lines of Gazprom OJSC. Boiling plants of the region work mainly on fuel oil. Meanwhile, Murmansk region government is exploring the possibility to transfer the plants to gas. Severomorsk gasification could become a pilot project.
