Around 100 American companies visit the port of Antwerp
“Antwerp is the ideal location for investment. The extensive economic infrastructure of the city in combination with the international reach of its port offers unmistakable advantages for potential investors,” declared Antwerp mayor Bart De Wever on Tuesday this week at an event organised by the American Chamber of Commerce in collaboration with ExxonMobil and Antwerp Port Authority, said in the press release.
In the Port House in Antwerp, De Wever extolled the advantages of Antwerp as an investment centre for foreign investors, in front of an audience of 100 or so participants. In addition to Antwerp’s known strengths he emphasised in particular the international significance of the port with its extensive chemical cluster and wide range of logistics services. In addition to information about the advantages of Antwerp and a short presentation of the port activities, participants had lots of opportunity to network during a boat tour of the port.
The American Chamber of Commerce organises numerous networking events to promote relations with American companies in Belgium. However this is the first time since the setting up of the Antwerp Chapter in 2012 that such an occasion has been held collaboratively in the port of Antwerp. Both Eddy Bruyninckx, CEO of Antwerp Port Authority, and Joost van Roost, CEO of ExxonMobil and chairman of the new Antwerp Chapter of AmCham Belgium, were particularly enthusiastic about the joint initiative. The high turnout and the positive reactions of the participants assured the success of the event.
