USC to focus on creation of Zvezda-based shipbuilding complex - Shmakov
United Shipbuilding Corporation OJSC will pay special attention to the project on creation of a multi-purpose shipbuilding complex on the basis of the Far East shipyard Zvezda. According to the records of the meeting on the current state and development prospects of the United Shipbuilding Corporation held yesterday under chairmanship of RF President, this was announced by Vladimir Shmakov, newly appointed head of the Corporation. In the nearest future he is going to visit the largest USC companies, its major partners and customers for closer examination of all urgent issues.
According to Shmakov, it is necessary to go into the issues related to the creation of modern shipbuilding and repair centers as well as to develop a product support system integrating designing, building, operation and disposal of military equipment.
USC head also marked the necessity to concentrate on technological advance and to arrange work on advanced development of both military and civil facilities for their further introduction. One of the key ways to implement the above tasks should be closer cooperation between the Corporation and the leading scientific centers of the industry and the country, like Krylov State Research Center and Shipbuilding & Shiprepair Technology Center.
