Sakhalin authorities invite Japanese business to participate in East-West transport project
The authorities of the Sakhalin region have proposed Japanese business to participate in implementation of the project of East-West transport corridor, press center of the regional government informs.
Sergei Khotochkin, Deputy Chairman of the regional government, have discussed this issue today with Katsuo Inaba, General Director on international affairs of Japan’s Ministry of land, infrastructure, transport and tourism. The meeting was held in Tokio.
According to Sergei Khotochkin, it is reasonable to implement the project of Sakhalin-Hokkaido link by joint efforts of Russia and Japan. Japanese business could take an active part in the project. He added that the Sakhalin region government is willing to promote the project.
In his turn, Katsuo Inaba noted that the project is a realistic alternative to the existing maritime corridors between Europe and Asia.
