Almaz lays down the keel of self-propelled floating crane under RS supervision
On May 17, 2013, Almaz Shipbuilding Company laid down the keel of self-propelled floating crane of project 02690 (No 900). It will be built under technical supervision of Russian Maritime Register of Shipping (RS), IAA PortNews learnt from RS press center.
The crane was designed by Spetssudoproect CJSC (St. Petersburg) for lifting and hoisting, loading of surface crafts and submarines, fitting of chains at floating berths, installation of road equipment and on deck transportation of cargo.
Major characteristics – full displacement – about 2,000 tonnes, length – about 50 m, breadth – about 22 m, range – 3,500 miles, endurance - 10 days, lifting capacity - 35-150 tonnes, crew - 22 persons.
Deputy head of development management – head of RS Shipbuilding Department Sergey Shishkin comments on the event: “RS has a long history of relationship with the country’s Navy. The Register was supervising the construction of auxiliary fleet for USSR Navy at foreign shipyards. Today RS is engaged in technical supervision of construction, repair and re-equipment of ships and vessels for RF Navy. Among the current projects – combat logistics ships, tugboats, multi-function vessels for comprehensive port servicing, self-propelled floating cranes as well as training ships of RF Navy.”
