RF Navy flag hoisted at corvette Boiky
On May 16, 2013, Severnaya Verf (Northern Shipyard) hosted the signing of the Acceptance Act and hoisting the RF Navy flag at the second serial corvette of project 20380 Boiky. According to IAA PortNews reporter, the document was signed by Aleksandr Ushakov, Shipyard’s Director General, and Commander Victor Ivanov, Chairman of State Commission.
At the grand ceremony Ushakov said that the corvette would leave for Kronshtadt today to participate in Naval Parade dedicated to 310-year anniversary of the Baltic Fleet.
He also noted that the shipyard is to face challenges with lots of contracts for construction of warships.
As it was reported earlier, the Boiky had successfully undergone the sea trials and official tests.
The project 20380 was developed by Almaz Design Bureau. This multi-purpose Stereguschiy-class ship of project 20380 is to be used for fighting submarines and surface ships and support of landing operations.
The history of St. Petersburg-based Severnaya Verf (Northern Shipyard) goes back to 1912. The shipyard’s production facilities are intended for serial production, modernization and repair of surface warships and commercial vessels. Over the century the shipyard built more than 200 surface warships with total displacement exceeding 500,000 tonnes and more than 200 commercial vessels.
