Throughput of Ventspils port (Latvia) up 1% to 11.9 mln t in Jan-Apr’13
In January-April, 2013, the port of Ventspils (Latvia) handled 11.9 mln t of cargo (+1%, year-on-year), the port Authority says. In April the port handled 2.8 mln t of cargo.
Five of ten terminals of Freeport of Ventspils demonstrated throughput increase over the 4-month period: Ventbunkers (+56%), Baltic Coal Terminal (+12%) Ventspils Commercial Port (+5%) Ventamonjaks serviss (+36%), Ventplac (+4%). The following terminals decreased their throughput: Ventspils Grain Terminal (-25%), Kаlija parks(-27%), Ventspils Nafta terminals (-12%),Ventall Termināls (-26%) and Noord Natie Ventspils Terminals (-2%).
Ventspils port is located near Venta river. There are terminals for loading and unloading of crude and oil products, liquid chemicals and fertilizers, metal and coal, timber and fish, containers and Ro-Ro trailers. In 2012 the port’s throughput increased by 7% to 30.4 mln tonnes.
