Zelenodolsk shipyard (Tatarstan) lays down sixth boat of 21980 project
On May 7, Zelenodolsk Plant named after M. Gorky laid down the sixth anti-terror boat of 21980 project developed by Vympel Design Bureau OJSC (Nizhni Novgorod), IAA PortNews learnt from the company.
The main purpose of the series is to defend basing sites of the Russian Navy. Major characteristics of 21980 project: displacement – about 140 tonnes, length - 30 m, breadth – 7.3 m, draught – 1.8 m, full-speed - 23 knots, cruising range - 200 miles, endurance - 5 days, crew - 6 persons.
Lead boat of the project laid down on February 18, 2008 has been serving in Leningrad Naval Base since 2009. The second vessel in the series, the Grachonok, laid down on May 7, 2010 joined Black Sea Fleet in May 2012. The delivery of the third boat laid down on May 6, 2011, took place in November 2012. The forth boat laid down on May 5, 2012 was launched in April 2013. Currently the shipyard is building the fifth boat laid down on July 27, 2012.
