3 lives lost in April at sea and river facilities in Russia
In April 2013, 3 lives were lost at sea and river facilities in Russia, 4 persons were rescued and 7 ill persons were evacuated, State Marine Rescue Coordination Center of RF Transport Ministry informs.
Two casualties were caused by the accident at the tug-boat RBT-300 (built in 1959, owned by Atachi LLC, chartered by Pilon CJSC). The vessel sank on April 19 at the Neva river in St. Petersburg when breaking off the ice near the central span of the Palace Bridge. The tug boat caught on the scaffolds installed between the spans, capsized and sank. The vessel with the bodies of two crewmembers was lifted from the bottom on April 21.
On April 21, in Novorossiysk, an accident happened on m/v Mekhanik Kovalenko (flag of Saint Kitts and Nevis, owned by Concord Shipping). Representative of RF Chamber of Commerce and Industry, who was making pictures of cargo fastening, was injured during the hold closing and died.
