Volga Shipping opens cargo navigation
Volga Shipping has opened cargo navigation today, April 25, 2013. Two pushtows and seven motor vessels passed the gate of Gorodets HPP (Gorodets, Nizhni Novgorod). According to the company’s press center, the vessels make their way to Cherepovets to be loaded with metal.
Motor vessels operate at Lower Volga (Volzhsky, Volgograd region) from April 11. 14 vessels of the Company transport metal, sulphur and crushed stone in the Southern region, in the Don and Volga basins.
All in all, over 200 vessels of Volga Shipping are prepared for the navigation including 77 Volgo-Don motor vessels, 10 new motor vessels of RSD44 project, as well as 42 pushtows, 76 non-self-propelled barges, service and auxiliary fleet.
Volga Shipping OJSC is one of the biggest transport companies in Russia. It was founded in 1843. The company transports cargoes along rivers and lakes of the country. In 2012, Volga Shipping carried 7.3 mln t of cargo.
