Port of Gothenburg's Älvsborg Roro set to become a leading terminal in EU
The management of Älvsborg Roro has set an ambitious goal: to become Europe's leading ro-ro terminal in 2015. The objective of the new improvement programme is to improve service levels, create a new management culture and increase efficiencies, the Port of Gothenburg news release said.
The company will focuse on five priority areas: Customer focus; competitiveness and cost efficiency; corporate culture and leadership; communication and profitability as well as ability to invest.
"We started the work to improve the terminal in 2012, mainly focusing on the basic conditions for terminal operations. We upgraded terminal areas, launched a comprehensive investment programme for new machinery and migrated the IT infrastructure and all IT systems to new platforms," says Magnus Schreiber, Manging Director, Älvsborg Roro.
The terminal will now take the next step and launch the ‘New Älvsborg’ improvement programme with the support of international consultancy firm Cannizaro. The objective of the programme is to improve service levels, create a new management culture and increase efficiencies. The ‘New Älvsborg’ programme will run throughout 2013. A Customer Focus Initiative (CFI) will also be launched later this year.
