Port of Gothenburg welcomes arrival of second cruise ship
The second cruise ship of the season, AIDAcara, is making her way to the Port of Gothenburg. AIDAcara will moor at Frihamnen at 12 noon today, the Port Authority news release said.
On Thursday, AIDAcara will make her first call of the season at the Port of Gothenburg. AIDAcara has been a faithful visitor to the port each year since 2009.
The vessel will arrive from Kiel carrying 1,300 German passengers. During the visit to Gothenburg, they will have the opportunity to take in the sights of the city, including a visit to Haga and its classic Swedish cafes. At 8 pm, she will set sail for her next destination, Copenhagen.
AIDAcara's arrival was intended to mark the opening of the cruise season at the Port of Gothenburg but she was beaten to it by AIDAstella. The cruise season made an early start in March when AIDAstella's planned visit to Copenhagen was cancelled due to bad weather and instead she was redirected to Gothenburg. Both vessels are owned by the German cruise line Aida Cruises.
AIDAcara will make a further 16 calls to the Port of Gothenburg this year. Click here to see all the scheduled calls for 2013.
