Americas bunker prices, end the week down
After gains mid week, bunker prices in the Americas generally ended the week lower, bunker price data from Ship & Bunker showed.
Key U.S. Gulf and Caribbean port Houston saw benchmark grade IFO380 slip $4.50 to $603.50 per metric tonne (pmt) on Friday, to negate the gains made during the week and end $1.00 lower than the previous Friday. Low sulfur 380 cSt product (LS380) in the port dropped $3.00 to $671.00, while MGO moved down $5.00 to $986.50 pmt - a new low for the year so far.
Suppliers on the West Coast continued to experience what has been described as the lowest demand in "several years," and IFO380 in Vancouver fell $16.00 week-on-week.
A volatile Los Angeles / Long Beach saw prices for the product make three double-digit moves during the week to eventually settle $10.00 down on the day, but $14.00 higher than last Friday at $636.50 pmt.
Elsewhere in the Americas, New York saw IFO fall $4.00 over the week to 612.50 pmt, while MGO in the port was down $5.50 to $991.00 pmt.
IFO380 in Panama saw a change of $-4.50 over the week to $618.00 pmt, while MGO fell to $1022.00 pmt, $7.50 lower than the previous Friday.
In South America, Santos saw IFO380 end the week $12.50 lower at 598.00 pmt, a new low for the year and the first time below $600.00 pmt in 2013. MGO made a small gain of $1.50 on Friday, but ended the week down $9.00 lower than the previous week overall.
