Throughput of Ventspils port (Latvia) up 7% to 9.1 mln t in QI'13
In January-March, 2013, the port Ventspils (Latvia) 9.1 mln t of cargo (+7%, year-on-year), the port administration says. In March, the port’s throughput increased by 16% to 3.7 mln t.
Six of 10 terminals of Ventspils Free Port increased their throughput in the first quarter of the year: Ventbunkers (+51%), Baltic Coal Terminal (+20%) Ventspils Commercial Port (+11%) Ventamonjaks serviss (+30%), Ventspils Grain Terminal (+22%), Ventplac (+6%). The throughput fell at the following terminals: Kаlija parks(-17%), Ventspils Nafta terminals (-4%),Ventall Termināls (-21%) и Noord Natie Ventspils Terminals (-5%).
Ventspils port is located near Venta river. There are terminals for loading and unloading of crude and oil products, liquid chemicals and fertilizers, metal and coal, timber and fish, containers and Ro-Ro trailers. In 2012 the port’s throughput increased by 7% to 30.4 mln tonnes.
