Annual transportation by Northern Sea Route can make 60-65 mln t by 2025 – expert
The volume of cargo transportation by Northern Sea Route can make 60-65 mln t per year by 2025, IAA PortNews journalist cites Vsevolod Peresypkin, Director General of Central Scientific-Research Institute of Marine Fleet, as saying at the international conference “Northern Sea Route: state, problems and prospects” in St. Petersburg.
“Arctic cargo fleet currently consists of 210 cargo vessels including 168 vessels sailing under the Russian flag,” Peresypkin said.
Total capacity of the Arctic cargo fleet is 2.507 mln t with Russian flag vessels accounting for 1.403 mln t.
