According to BSP strategic plan of development till 2020, in 2013 two new units will be added to the port’s crane fleet- universal portal dock gantry crane with articulated boom «AIST M/T-bucket’» with hoisting capacity of 20/30/40 tonnes, BSP informs. Delivery process of component parts for the first crane planned to be set on berth №7 has already begun, and in May-June of the current year installation and commissioning will be completed, after which the crane will be put into operation. As a result, throughput capacity of berth № 7 will increase by 15-20%. Delivery and installation of the second crane is planned for the 3-rd quarter of the current year. After operational commissioning of both cranes, expected increase in throughput-capacity of berth №7 will reach 40%, and of berth №8 - from 20% to 40%, depending on cargo type.
Cranes availability of such level will allow BSP to increase the speed of cargo handling operations, reduce time of vessels processing, and increase competitiveness and status of BSP on international market of port services.
