Dry cargo turnover of Batumi Sea Port up 93% to 444,520 tonnes in QI'13
BSP turnover for the first quarter of 2013 reached its record-breaking volume and totalled 444 529 tonnes of dry cargo, which is 88 529, 46 tonnes (25 %) more that the volume planned and 93 % higher than last year results of the same period.
Leading positions as usually belong to raw sugar and ore bulk cargos with the results of 26% of the total dry cargo turnover each, and ammonium nitrate with 22,56%. Thus, the plan was exceeded by raw sugar (53%), ore bulk cargos (6%) and ammonium nitrate (34%). A significant growth is also observed in grain (310 %), cement (135%) and liquid cargos (7%).
Total number of vessel calls for the reporting period totals 169 units, which is 16 vessels more that the last year calls of the same period.
Leading position in the cargo flow for the period in report belongs to import (40%).

The port of Batumi is located in the south-east of the Black Sea. The port occupies 22.2 hectares. There are 11 berths and 16,412 square meters of covered storage facilities. The port facilities include an oil terminal, a container terminal, a berth complex for ferries, dry cargo terminal and a passenger terminal.
