ULJANIK Shipyard (Croatia) launches first stern trawl for Russia (photo)
In Uljanik on the 29th March, Hull No. 493 – “Taurus”, the first of two contracted Stern Trawls constructed by ULJANIK Shipyard for the Russian company CJSC “Taurus” from Murmansk, was launched. This ship has been constructed for fishing purposes, i.e. trawling and, in accordance with this, will be equipped with facilities for the processing, packing, freezing and storing of caught fish.
The Contract for construction was signed in September 2011, while the production process started in August of last year. Uljanik Shipyard has signed with the same company the construction of a second trawler (yard 492) which will have similar characteristics. The ship is 63.85 meters long, 13.5 meters wide, and same will be driven by an engine of power 4,500 kW.
