Throughput of Port Vysotsky up 59.5% to 1.01 mln t in Jan-March'13
In January-March 2013, Port Vysotsky OJSC handled 1,016,762.9 tonnes of Russian coal (up 59.5%, year-on-year), the stevedore’s press center informs.
In March the company handled 313,328.6 tonnes of Russian coal.
For the first time in its history, the coal terminal of Vysotsk seaport handled over 1 million tones of export coal over the 3-month period. The result was driven by regular handling of Panamax vessels. From November of the past year, three vessels of this class are handled in Vysotsk every month.
Port of Vysotsk is located in the Leningrad region. There are currently two stevedore companies operating at the port’s terminals: Port Vysotsky LLC and RPK-Vysotsk-Lukoil-II Ltd. In May 2012, the Russian government decided to expand the Vysotsk port with new territories including those occupied by the construction site of a new sea terminal for handling of general cargo (with the capacity of up to 3 mln t). In 2012 the port’s throughput increased by 2%, year-on-year, to 13,634,200 tonnes.
