Transit navigation opens in Azov-Don Basin (photo)
Transit navigation of 2013 within the Azov-Don Basin opened on April 1, 2013, Federal Marine and River Transport Agency says.
One of the first vessels to pass Kochetkovsky waterworks facility towards the port of Volga was the MV Brothers-5 of Palmali-Rostov LLC.
As a part of the activities, Azov-Don Basin Administration hosted a meeting chaired by Victor Vovk, Deputy head of the Federal Marine and River Transport Agency, “On tasks of navigation 2013”. The meeting covered the issues of safe navigation, state port control, development of activities on maintenance and improvement of cargo turnover within the Azov-Don Basin in view of the forecasted low water level this year.
Then Vovk visited waterworks facility No2 of the North-Donetsk lock system. He surveyed the facilities being reconstructed in compliance with the project “Development and implementation of a comprehensive project on reconstruction of Azov-Don Basin. Phase II.”
A meeting held at waterworks facility No2 dedicated to the implementation of the second phase of the comprehensive project on reconstruction of Azov-Don Basin was attended by experts and representatives of contracting companies.
