Gdynia port hosts a meeting on changes to MARPOL
The Port of Gdynia has recently held a meeting organized in conjunction with the Transportation Ministry’s Department of Maritime Transport and Safety, Maritime Construction. The meeting addressed the changes to the International Convention for the Prevention of Pollution from Ships (MARPOL), the Port Authority news release said.
The participants addressed amendments to MARPOL Annex IV, in particular the issues related to availability of adequate reception facilities for shipboard waste, especially from passenger ships and ferries in the Baltic Sea ports and the consequences of the changes.
The meeting was attended by representatives of the Ministry of Transportation of Poland, maritime safety and construction department, maritime offices in Gdynia, Slupsk and Szczecin, harbour masters of the ports of Gdansk and Gdynia, the authorities of the ports of Gdynia, Gdansk and Szczecin and Swinoujscie, representatives of the Association of Municipalities "Dolina Redy and Chylonki" and Gdynia-based Water and Sewerage Company Ltd.
