Throughput of Klaipėda Seaport up 14.9% to 9,486,200 tonnes in Jan-March'13
In January-March 2013, throughput of Klaipėda Seaport increased by 14.9%, year-on-year, to 9,486,200 mln t, press center of the port’s administration informs. March data are provided as of March 28th.
Transshipment of fertilizers boosted by 23.2% to 2,719,300 tonnes, oil products- by 7.7% to 2,469,300 tonnes.
The port’s throughput in March (as of March 28th) totaled 3.350 mln t, which is a record-high result with daily turnover of 120,000 tonnes of cargo.
The highest result in the port’s history was earlier achieved in October 2011 – 3.3 mln t.
Klaipeda State Seaport is the northernmost ice–free port on the Eastern coast of the Baltic Sea. It is the most important and biggest Lithuanian transport hub, connecting sea, land and railway routes from East to West. The port’s throughput (including Butinge terminal) made 43.761 mln t in 2012.
