Loading of Russian Railways down 2.9% to 104.9 mln tones in March 2013
In March 2013, Russian Railways decreased cargo loading by 2.9%, year-on-year, to 104.9 mln tones, the company says in its press release.
In the accounting period, the company’s cargo turnover fell by 4.2%, year-on-year, to 182.8 bln tonne-km. Cargo turnover including the run of empty wagons fell by 2% to 234.7 bln tonne-km.
In January-March 2013 (according to real-time data) the company loaded 293.9 mln tonnes of cargo (-4.1%, year-on-year) including – 78 mln tonnes of coal (+0.3%); 3 mln tonnes of coke (-2.6%); 64.4 mln tonnes of crude and oil products (-2.2%); 26.6 mln tonnes of iron and manganese ore (+0.5%); 17.9 mln tonnes of ferrous metal (-6.2%); 2.8 mln tonnes of ferrous metal scrap (-10%); 11.7 mln tonnes of chemical and mineral fertilizers (+2%); 6.4 mln tonnes of cement (-0.9%); 8.9 mln tonnes of forest cargo (-7%); 2.4 mln tonnes of grain (-53.5%); 33.9 mln tonnes of construction cargo (-8.7%); 4.9 mln tonnes of non-ferrous metal ore and sulfur raw materials (-11.6%); 6.8 mln tonnes of chemicals and soda (-4.2%); 6.8 mln tonnes of industrial commodities and molding materials (-8%).
In January-March 2013, the company’s cargo turnover fell by 5%, year-on-year, to 525.3 bln tonne-km. Cargo turnover including the run of empty wagons fell by 4%, to 672.3 bln tonne-km.
