Throughput of Chinese ports up 11.2% to 1.61 bln tonnes in Jan-Feb '13
In January-February 2013, throughput of Chinese ports increased by 11.2%, year-on-year, to 1.61 bln tones, states the Ministry of Transport of the Government of the People's Republic of China. The seaports handled 1.13 bln tones of cargo (+10.3%, year-on-year), the river ports - 480.7 mln t (+13.5%, year-on-year).
Container throughput climbed by 9.5%, year-on-year, to 279.23 mln TEUs, including 249 mln TEUs in seaports (+8.7%) and 30.2 mln TEUs in river ports (+16.2%).
In 2012, throughput of Chinese ports grew by 6.8% to 9.74 bln tonnes.
