FSUE Rosmorport has been considering financing schemes for the construction of shallow-draught icebreakers which are to be deployed in the Azov Sea Basin, IAA PortNews journalist cites Executive Director of FSUE Rosmorport Andrey Lavrishchev as saying at the meeting of RF Government Marine Board in Novorossiysk.
According to him, the four icebreakers, currently operating in the Azov Sea, have already run rated their life (25 years) and should be replaced with new ones.
Different schemes to finance the construction of shallow-draught icebreakers are under consideration today: either through the mechanism of the federal special-purpose program “Development of Russian Transport System” or through slight increase of ice charges based on principles of private-public partnership.
The designing of a new series of icebreakers is proposed to be financed through the federal special-purpose program “Development of Civil Marine Facilities”.
