Creation of Black Sea Fleet base in Novorossiysk should be facilitated – Dmitry Rogozin
It is planned to facilitate the creation of the Black Sea Fleet base in Novorossiysk, IAA PortNews journalist cites Deputy Chairman of RF Government Dmitry Rogozin as telling the media before the meeting of RF Government Marine Board in Novorossiysk.
“Obviously, the process should be facilitated as the fleet cannot wait,” Rogozin said.
He also noted that the facilitation of the construction program will be financially efficient due to the inflation.
Rogozin added that in Novorossiysk it is supposed to develop not only ship repairing facilities for Navy but shipbuilding as well.
“It is necessary to create everything that the Black Sea Fleet needs here so that it could grow and be repaired according to the plans,” the deputy head of the government said.
Rogozin also underlined that the plans on the base development will meet ecological interests of Novorossiysk as a resort city.
As Victor Chirkov, Commander-in-Chief of RF Navy, said at the briefing, 40% of the program on the creation of the naval base in Novorossiysk has been fulfilled at Geoport of Novorossiysk. Major activities are expected to be completed in 2014. Further development of the base will go on with arrival of new vessels.
“Some programs will be rescheduled,” Chirkov noted.
As it was reported earlier, the base of the Black Sea Fleet in Novorossiysk is to be completed by 2020.
